Fortune School of Education, established in 1989, provides preparation programs to fill the “pipeline” of educators needed in today’s schools with the goal of bringing more diverse teaching candidates into public schools. In 2008, they expanded their programs to include creating public charter schools focused on closing the African American achievement gap.

As part of their continued growth, Fortune purchased the building that they have been occupying as their District Office. Working with MTA, this renovation focused on transforming half of the first floor to better accommodate their expanding team. The project included 26 new private offices and a reconfigure of 40 workstations. It also introduced three conference rooms, two collaboration areas, a library, a reception space, and a refreshed break room to support both functionality and comfort with modern amenities and ergonomic improvements.

To be mindful of budget constraints, MTA thoughtfully blended existing furniture along with new pieces to maintain furniture standards. To minimize disruption to their staff and students this project was completed on strict deadlines to install during the district's Spring Break. This project was completed under budget and on time, leaving the Fortune School District with a refreshed space to better support their staff and students.
