Project: Davis, CA
MTA provided the furnishings for
DTL’s new headquarters building in Davis, CA. DTL is a research and development
services for Mori Seiki, one of the biggest machine tool manufacturers in the
world. Herman Miller’s Vivo product was selected by the architect and owner for
its flexibility, price point, quality, and clean aesthetic. MTA installed 172
workstations, 20 private offices, lobby/ reception areas, break and conference
rooms, training room and common area filing. This project was awarded LEED Gold.
A partial raised floor and partial slab floor meant no power poles or trenching,
so MTA worked with the contractor to design channels to feed power & data
into the work stations. MTA also laid out electrical and data locations in all
private offices and MSF locations. Field verification of all
power/data/mechanical locations and critical dimensions were done during key
points in construction. Multiple revisions in the final building design put
construction behind schedule and past the client’s move-in date. MTA worked
closely with the contractor and client to develop a schedule that allowed
furniture to be installed during construction so that move in was possible in a
much shorter timeframe.
