Compass Rose Group Home Remodel 2010

On May 4th, 2010, as part of our community efforts, the employee-owners of MTA spent a day to make over the classroom and residential treatment home at Compass Rose Group Homes in Sacramento. Compass Rose is a comprehensive therapeutic residential program treating boys ages 10-19 who have clinical psychological and/or behavioral disorders. Compass Rose also features a special education school that fosters academic growth and support for the students. Improved living and learning environments can be the key to a child’s success MTA employees painted, cleaned, re-organized, installed furniture, and decorated the living spaces. In addition, the classroom was refreshed with new furniture and the children have a new and now thriving fruit and vegetable garden. MTA also held a new and gently used goods drive for books, DVDs, games, sporting goods, clothing, furniture, and bedding which was incorporated into the remodel.

This was one of our most ambitious and labor intensive community projects and it was also one of our most rewarding. Our staff had an opportunity to meet and in some cases work alongside the children. The experience was positively impactful and inspiring for all.
