California ISO

In 2010, MTA was selected to provide all ancillary furnishings for CA ISO's new 275,000 sq ft. Iron Point Headquarter Facility in Folsom, California. The design objective for the interior architecture was to create an environment that was flexible, open, inviting, and professional. Aesthetically the design is modern, classic, sustainable, and high performing to enhance productivity while increasing employee retention, attraction, morale, and overall worker satisfaction.

MTA developed all ancillary furniture design concepts collaborating with the Architects and Designers of Dreyfuss & Blackford, Clark Construction and the CA ISO team. MTA designed creative solutions that honored the original architectural intent and the project budget. MTA utilized three-dimensional renderings to convey the proposed concepts to the project team. This capability allowed the project team to envision the final solution and it significantly aided in reducing decision timelines.

The furnishing solutions were designed to create a variety of formal, informal, collaborative, and private zones throughout the building while incorporating the use of technology. MTA provided the furnishings for all conference rooms, offices, collaboration areas, lobby furnishings, dining and break rooms, and outdoor furnishings. The overall result was timeless and innovative.

MTA also managed the process of maximizing existing furniture for re-use. MTA evaluated and inventoried hundreds of existing pieces to determine the optimum placement in the new facility taking into account size, color, and condition.

The project is certified Platinum through the council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating program. Supporting these LEED goals, MTA utilized products made from: recycled materials, FSC certified woods, rapidly renewable materials, low/no VOC's, low embodied energy methodology, local resource extraction and manufacturing, recycled packing and delivery methods.

MTA’s Project Manager worked closely with general contractor and trades to ensure a smooth and efficient transition to the new building. MTA’s ability to warehouse and inventory all furnishings prior to installation was a key advantage for CA ISO. MTA installed all ancillary and existing furniture and provided move support to the move vendor. The project was completed in early 2011.
